Drones and ROVs and Arduinos

A journey building drones and ROVs and other open hardware and Arduino based stuff

My name is Simone Chiaretta, and I’m a software developer, mainly web developer on the .NET platform. But lately (since 2010) I’ve been playing with open hardware and other similar stuff.

I already have a blog in which I talk about web development stuff, so this blog is just going to be about Arduino, other open hardware platforms, drones and other open hardware powered vehicles. And a bit of Radio Controlled stuff too.

Really excited to find your blog. We are doing similar things, integrating remote sensing and GIS, at a college in northern California, USA, although various institutional and other limitations dictate the way we have to source things, so though we’d love to build up the way that you are, we’re starting with kits for the time being. Anyhow, we’re up in the air and getting great images using Parallax’s ELEV-8, and we’re eager to get underwater when the next round of OpenROV kits become available. Take care and thanks for sharing.

    hello i have a problem.
i’ve done everything as you say but for some reason the ESC do not respond for calibration.
i think part of the problem is that i’m using an Opto esc, so i figured out that i need to keep Arduino pluged with the pc since the esc is not going to power it up.
another part of the problem is that i have no idea on the power supply specification (i’m using an AC adaptor with an output of 13 V an 20 W) can you give me any hint on how to procede?
